As Patient Relations Representative at Health Sciences North (HSN), Melissa works in partnership with patients, families, and staff to help improve the patient experience.
She helps to ensure that feedback is shared, and facilitates the appropriate reviews/investigations on behalf of the patient and family. Melissa assists staff and partners across the organization to better understand the role of patients and families in supporting HSN to become a more patient-centered organization by focusing on collecting and producing patient stories.
Melissa has over 7 years of experience in the helping profession, starting her career as a mental health and addictions counsellor, and then working with youth and families involved in the child welfare system. She has brought those skills, along with a rich experience in client engagement and advocacy, to the healthcare arena. She has served at HSN as the Patient Relations Representative for the past 4.5 years
